Today's lesson will focus on shutter speed and freezing motion in our photos. To start with we will be putting the camera on TV mode instead of AV mode. This means we will tell the camera what shutter speed we want and the camera will figure out the rest. There are two shutter speeds to always keep in mind. 1/60 is the slowest shutter speed you can use to shoot hand held. Below that speed you need a tripod or you will get camera shake. The other shutter speed, and the one we will be dealing with today, is 1/500. This is the starting point for freezing motion. You may need to adjust up or down depending on the speed of your subject.
